At Valor Academy, we’re dedicated to providing our students with unparalleled personalized support, coursework, and flexibility. Unlike a fully virtual or traditional school, Valor Academy follows a truly unique hybrid model. This model allows for direct instruction, a digital curriculum designed to meet various learning styles, and an opportunity to receive individualized learning.
Tell us about your company’s mission and values.
Our mission is to ensure students are making progress towards college, career, and life readiness while demonstrating competency of the Ohio Learning Standards. Our core values are built upon our mission and vision and guides how we interact, and the behaviors expected as active members of our learning community. Preparing and educating our students to become responsible, college/career-ready citizens in a safe and nurturing learning environment is our utmost priority.
What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?
We look forward to receiving updates on community events and volunteer opportunities for our students & teachers. We emphasize giving back to our community and volunteerism is the best way to instill this value to the younger generation.
How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
To stay engaged with trends in the industry:
a. staying active on various Facebook groups in the area.
b. continue with weekly Facebook Live as an engagement tool to create content that addresses questions and concerns families may have while also delivering valuable content and information.
c. stay current with new and researched information regarding education.
d. network with all stakeholders in the community
e. create platforms to drive conversations and feedback by way of Zoom or in-person listening forums.
f. monitor schools on various ends of the spectrum.
g. present our campus to be open, friendly and flexible to demonstrate an approachable and willing attitude.
Please describe your company culture.
Our company culture is best known for being innovative, forward-thinking, and “hands-on”, all built on an open-door policy for staff, students & families to communicate freely with one another.
What defines a successful employee at your company?
Engagement. We put a premium on all staff members from senior management to entry-level positions to be engaging with our students, their families, and our community. We learn by engaging those around us.
What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?
Our ability to encompass and embrace everyone. There is a lot of diversity in this city and with that comes a bit of uniqueness at every corner you turn. Unique people bring unique and quirky businesses that cause our city to stand out. We are accepting of things, even if they’re different then what we are used to. Some cities would not be as open to those that are different, but Columbus is not one of those places. Here you can feel free to be yourself and not worry about whether you or your business venture will be accepted. It’s Columbus, of course, it will!
