Columbus Chamber of Commerce Names 2023 Columbus Award Recipient

December 30th, 2022

Stephen D. Steinour to be recognized at Chamber Annual Meeting, February 8

The Columbus Chamber of Commerce will honor Stephen D. Steinour, Chairman, President and CEO of Columbus, Ohio-based Huntington Bancshares Incorporated, a $175 billion regional bank-holding company delivering a full suite of commercial and retail banking, investment management, and insurance services through Huntington National Bank and its affiliates, as this year’s recipient of the Columbus Award.

Stephen will be recognized during Get Ready to Grow the Chamber’s 2023 Annual Meeting, presented by Ease Logistics.

The Columbus Award has recognized exceptional community leadership and business success since 1964. Past honorees have included Guy Worley, Stephanie Hightower, Lisa Bachmann, Cathy Lyttle, and Jim Kunk.

“Steve Steinour took the helm of Huntington at an extremely difficult time. He led the bank through a period when the actual survival of Huntington came into question,” said Don DePerro, president and CEO of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce. “Today, our largest locally based bank is thriving. It is financially sound and is regarded as an industry leader. Steve Steinour saved Huntington Bancshares. Our Columbus Chamber is thrilled to honor Steve Steinour with the 2023 Columbus Award.”

Stephen will receive the award during the Chamber’s Get Ready to Grow program on February 8 at the Mershon Auditorium.

The 2023 recipient of the Small Business Leader Award – presented by First Merchants Bank – will also be recognized at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting. This year’s finalists include:

Stacie Boord, Shadowbox Live
Peter Coratola, Jr., EASE Logistics
Brad Griffith, Buckeye Innovation

Each finalist was selected following an extensive vetting process by a committee of judges who consider a competitive set of criteria.

The Chamber’s 2023 Annual Meeting will feature keynote presentations from Jim Evers, Keena Smith, Shannon Hardin, and Erica Crawley. Registration information for this year’s event can be found at Columbus.org/Annual-Meeting.
