New firm replaces generic security checklists with a business-process approach, backed by real-world breach and insurance data

CENTRAL OHIO, August 20, 2026 – Aetos One today announced its launch as a cybersecurity firm serving mid-market organizations and small to midsize businesses. The company was founded by Jerod Brennen and Robert Vaile, two practitioners with more than 55 combined years in cybersecurity, audit, and law.

Aetos One built its model around a problem its founders saw across the industry. Most security programs start with a generic list of controls and questions. Businesses spend time and budget on requirements that do not match how they really operate or where cybersecurity risks might impact those business operations. Aetos One starts differently. The firm identifies the business processes an organization cannot afford to lose, then builds security around protecting those processes first.

That approach draws on years of data about what causes damage to businesses, including breach patterns tracked by the FBI and loss data from the cyber insurance industry. Instead of asking a client to satisfy every control on a standard framework, Aetos One prioritizes the risks the data shows matter most and builds a program around those.

The company offers three services. Guardian provides named security leadership, giving clients direct access to a senior security executive who sets strategy and reports to their board. Bastion delivers managed security operations, with monitoring, detection, and response handled by senior practitioners rather than a rotating help desk. Citadel covers audit readiness and compliance automation, turning evidence collection and reporting into a continuous process instead of a once-a-year scramble. Organizations can engage one service or combine them based on need.
