What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?

One of the things we value most about the Columbus Chamber is the way it connects professionals across our region. The opportunity to build meaningful relationships with other leaders who care about strengthening our community is incredibly valuable.

We especially enjoy the networking events and business meetups, as well as the introductions and referrals that help spark new partnerships. We’re also looking forward to continuing to engage in more industry-specific gatherings and leadership events through the Chamber.

In our work with Cornerstone of Hope, community collaboration is essential. These connections help expand our reach, open doors for new partnerships, and ultimately allow us to support more individuals and families navigating grief in our community.

How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?

We stay engaged with trends in our field by staying connected to both the nonprofit and behavioral health communities—through professional events, trainings, and conversations with other leaders doing similar work. At Cornerstone of Hope, ongoing professional education is a big part of how we make sure we’re supporting families in the most informed and thoughtful ways possible.

We also pay close attention to the community we serve—listening to families, counselors, employers, and partners. Their experiences help guide how we respond to emerging needs, especially as more workplaces and communities recognize the impact grief and mental health have on people’s overall well-being.

What is your company culture like?

At Cornerstone of Hope, our culture is really mission-driven. Everyone here shows up because they care deeply about the families we serve, and you can feel that passion in everything we do. We celebrate each other’s wins, lean on each other during tough moments, and are constantly learning together—it’s a team that’s committed to both the work and to each other.

That said, like any growing organization, we’re not perfect. We’re navigating the balance between doing the work we’re called to do and building the systems and structures that help our team thrive long-term. But what we love is that even when things get messy or challenging, people here are willing to have the hard conversations, step up, and keep the focus on families and community. It’s a culture of heart, honesty, and commitment.

What does it take to be a successful employee at your company?

A successful employee at Cornerstone of Hope is someone who shows up with both heart and initiative. It’s not just about doing your job well—it’s about being committed to the families we serve, collaborating with your teammates, and stepping up when challenges arise.

Curiosity and a willingness to learn are huge, because this work is constantly evolving and every family’s journey is unique. And above all, a successful employee is someone who balances compassion with accountability—someone who can care deeply while still getting things done and helping the team move forward.

What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?

Columbus is such a great place to do business because of the people and the community here. There’s a genuine spirit of collaboration—organizations, leaders, and neighbors are eager to partner, share ideas, and support each other.

It’s also a city that values innovation and growth while still keeping community at the center. For nonprofits like Cornerstone of Hope, that means we can connect with employers, partners, and families in meaningful ways, and together make a real impact.
