PaintWerks is a Licensed Ohio General Contractor and commercial painting company serving Columbus and Central Ohio since 2016. We handle commercial painting, residential painting, drywall, framing, tile, flooring, carpentry, and full general contractor services from offices and warehouses to homes and multifamily buildings. Family-owned, BBB A+ rated, NARI member.

Last year we completed the Target ACM canopy repair in New Albany entirely overnight to meet a corporate inspection deadline without closing the store. Our team handled fabrication, paint, and reinstall in the dark period and the store opened on time the next morning. That kind of phased commercial work, block filler on CMU at Core Molding, Level 5 drywall at Primrose Grandview, tenant buildouts at Easton Town Center, is what we do day in and day out across Columbus. Doesn’t matter if it’s 300,000 square feet or a single retail bay. We measure, we coat, we stand behind it.

How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?

Real-world projects keep us current. We track coating system changes through Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore rep visits, attend NARI Central Ohio meetings, and read every spec book that comes across our desk. New substrates, new compliance requirements, new low-VOC product launches, we run them on real jobs before we commit to anything site-wide.

If you had to start over from scratch, what’s the first thing you’d do differently?

I would have invested in commercial systems and crew training earlier. Residential work paid the bills the first few years but commercial was always where we wanted to grow. Better project management software, COI tracking, and dedicated commercial estimators day one would have shortened the learning curve. We figured it out, just slower than we needed to.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received as a business owner?

Take care of your crew first. If your team is paid right, supported, and respected, they take care of customers and projects without being managed every minute. We have crew members who have been with us almost since day one and that loyalty is worth more than any marketing budget.

What makes a successful partnership at your company?

Specifics. We write specific scopes, give specific timelines, and quote specific dollar amounts. Property managers and general contractors who partner with us repeatedly are the ones who appreciate not having to chase change orders three weeks into a job. We say what we are going to do, then we do it. That is the whole framework.

What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?

Columbus is growing without losing its head. The commercial development across Easton, Polaris, Dublin, and now the Intel corridor is real but the people doing the work still pick up the phone, still meet in person, still shake hands. Central Ohio rewards companies that earn relationships. That’s our wheelhouse.

What do you want people to remember about your business five years from now?

That PaintWerks delivered. That when a property manager, builder, or homeowner called us, they got honest answers, fair pricing, and clean work. Family-owned, licensed Ohio general contractor, Lewis Center based, serving Central Ohio. That is the legacy.
