Music Columbus Announces Amy Holihan as Executive Director | Music Columbus

Deputy Director elevated to leadership role following nationwide search, reflecting commitment to local leadership

COLUMBUS, OH – The Board of Directors of Music Columbus is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Holihan as the organization’s next Executive Director, following a nationwide search conducted by Benefactor Group.

Among a field of exceptional applicants, Amy distinguished herself through her deep experience in the arts—particularly with Music Columbus—as well as her strong community relationships, her thoughtful approach to management, and her compelling vision for the organization’s future.

“We are thrilled to welcome Amy Holihan as the next Executive Director of Music Columbus,” said Robert Shenton, Music Columbus’ Board Chair. “Amy is a well-rounded, eloquent leader, with deep knowledge of Music Columbus’ supporters and operations. She has a proven record of success in her current role and is ideally positioned to lead the organization into its next chapter of growth and expanded impact.”

Amy is a highly motivated professional with over 15 years of experience in the arts, nonprofit sector, and program design and evaluation. She holds a Master’s in Arts Policy and Administration from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor’s in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating magna cum laude. She is a graduate of the School of American Ballet and the Professional Children’s School, she went on to perform for seven years as a professional ballerina with the prestigious Pennsylvania Ballet.

Currently serving as Deputy Director at Music Columbus, Amy leads a team in managing multiple programs that engage over 3,000 participants annually. Her strategic initiatives have resulted in a remarkable 286% growth in the organization’s budget over five years. A passionate advocate for creative thinking and collaboration, Amy has also contributed to various arts organizations, enhancing fundraising efforts and community engagement through her expertise in project management and strategic planning.

“I will lead Music Columbus with an artist-centered approach, one where our mission resonates across the city and our impact on the community is truly transformative,” Holihan said. “As I step into this role, I am committed to listening, building on strong relationships, and responding to the evolving needs of our music community. I am honored to build on Music Columbus’ legacy while shaping a future that ensures a vibrant and thriving music ecosystem.”

As Executive Director, Amy will oversee Music Columbus’ operations and play a critical role in partnership with the board and in guiding its strategic direction. Under Holihan’s guidance, Music Columbus will expand access, invest in emerging talent, and continue championing music as a driver of cultural and economic vitality. With the strength and creativity of our community, we will help write our city’s next chapter.

Holihan will assume the Executive Director role on January 1, 2026.
