Columbus Region Logistics Council Applauds Major Investment in Ohio Truck Parking Expansion

July 30th, 2025

The Columbus Region Logistics Council (CRLC), an initiative of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, celebrates the announcement from Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to add more than 1,400 new truck parking spaces at 33 locations across Ohio. This strategic investment addresses a longstanding challenge in the logistics and freight sector and marks a critical advancement for roadway safety and supply chain reliability.

The expansion, which includes both new and upgraded parking facilities, is designed to create safe and legal truck parking while also reducing unsafe truck parking along highways and ramps, an issue that poses safety risks to both commercial drivers and the traveling public. With Central Ohio’s growing prominence as a logistics hub, the CRLC views this development as a timely and necessary step forward.

“Safe and accessible truck parking is essential to the efficiency and wellbeing of our logistics workforce,” said Christine Boucher, Director of the Columbus Region Logistics Council at the Columbus Chamber. “This investment by ODOT and the Governor’s office strengthens Ohio’s role as a national freight leader and reinforces our commitment to the people and businesses that keep goods moving across the state.”

The new truck parking sites are expected to provide drivers with safer options for rest and compliance with federal hours-of-service regulations, while also easing pressure on local infrastructure.

The CRLC and the Columbus Chamber remain committed to supporting public-private partnerships that improve freight mobility and workforce conditions across the Columbus Region and the state of Ohio.
