Provide us with a brief summary of your business’ services.
NFP is a leading insurance broker and consultant that provides employee benefits, specialized property and casualty, retirement, and individual private client solutions through our licensed subsidiaries and affiliates. Our expertise is matched by our commitment to each client’s goals and is enhanced by our investments in innovative technologies in the insurance brokerage and consulting space.

Tell us about your company’s mission and values.
NFP’s purpose and passion is to deliver results and value through trust, transparency and active communication.  We create the best possible work environment for our employees and deliver the best possible solutions to our clients.

Our commitment to every client and partnership is the same:
– listen well and understand what’s important
– work collaboratively to identify solutions
– be genuine in our desire help
– deliver the best possible results

A great example of delivering results for clients and partners is demonstrated through our Rx Solutions Coalition.  It’s an exciting business model because as the Rx Solutions Coalition grows so does the impact it can have on all the partner employers in the Coalition.  Since 2017 Rx Solutions Coalition has helped over 100 employers, including us, dramatically lower the impact prescription drug prices have on employer health plans.  Equally as important, our employees and their families as well as our client’s employees and families benefit with access to the prescriptions they need at lower out-of-pocket costs.  We don’t just offer this type of solution to clients, we are in it with them, and there is no better testimonial than that.

What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?
The Chambers commitment to helping us find mutually beneficial relationships aligned with professionals and companies that share our value of simply doing the right thing for clients, every time.  Additionally, we are a firm that embraces continual learning, creativity, innovation and investments in technology.  The Chamber brings together outstanding educational resources and networking opportunities that lead to continued learning and innovation in our industry.  The Columbus market has a growing Insurtech presence combined with a well-established base of industry talent and the Chamber has done really great work to bring those industry leaders together.

How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
As cliché as it sounds, we commit to it, but it isn’t just words.  We put our capital to work to not only help identify trends but to be on the cutting edge of creating new trends.  NFP ventures is a perfect example of that.  Their mission is to find, fund and work successfully with visionary entrepreneurs, applying NFP’s expertise to facilitate long-term success. Typically, we look to target companies that can benefit from NFP’s distribution, human capital and other unique assets to accelerate their growth and new trends in the market.

What is your company culture like?
It can be summed with four simple words.  People First.  Be Genuine.

From employees to clients, we strive to build lifelong personal relationships that are far more than just “business.” We believe in being good people, doing a great job and doing the right thing. For us, business is personal.

We know a company is only as great as its employees. We want all of our employees to move forward personally and professionally, now and in the future. That’s why we’re committed to fostering a people-centric workplace through our unique PeopleFirst program. PeopleFirst was created by our employees, for our employees, the program gives employees numerous opportunities for education, recognition, community service, financial strength, well-being and more.

The last element, was another driving factor in our multi-year commitment to the Chamber, serving the communities in which we live and work.  Every day we make a conscious choice to take care of the communities in which we live and work. From charity drives and community service outings to other company-sponsored events, we donate our time, skills and other resources to support our communities.

What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?
The sense of community that still exists in central Ohio despite the fact the greater metro area boasts a population just over 2 million people.  I think John Carter of Nationwide and a current board member of the Columbus Chamber said it best, “small business members…are pillars in the community” and that is something you can feel doing business in Columbus.  NFP is a national firm with more than 5000 employees and we are often called into consulting engagements all across the country in many different cities.  Few other cities rival Columbus’ sense of community.  Columbus is a great place to live and work.
