Describe your company in three words

Patient Centered Care

Share a recent project, client success, or example of your work in action.

As a prosthetic and orthotic provider, we get plenty of opportunity for patient success. We recently had a patient who lives in rural WV have an amputation here in Columbus. After working with the patient for a few weeks, he was able to receive his new prosthetic leg and has returned to working around his farm with heavy equipment along with his hobbies of fishing and hunting around his property. All of which are not possible without a well fitting and capable prosthesis.

How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?

Our practitioners consistently attend courses and conferences nationwide to learn about the emerging technology and practices in our field. We have converted to additive manufacturing with 3D scanning and printing, which saves on waste of time and material dramatically. We are also able to provide many of the new options in our field that require training and certification on the specific product, such as the MyoPro. The MyoPro is a myoelectric controlled brace for an individual who is unable to use their arm, hand, and fingers by using the electrical signal produced by attempting to fire a muscle, then amplifying that signal into a motor that drives the elbow and fingers. We are also partnered with Limber Prosthetics to provide the Unileg, a one-of-a-kind fully 3D printed prosthesis that is saltwaterproof, sandproof, mudproof, and almost indestructible, while being the lightest prosthetic device available.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received as a business owner?

Good communication and willingness to be involved and help in our community.

What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?

Columbus has a large network of healthcare providers, including some world renowned surgeons and practices focusing on amputation and techniques like osseointegration. Working as a team with these providers and the many therapists here specializing in amputee rehab, there is a possibility for amazing patient outcomes that could be recognized nationwide.

What do you want people to remember about your business five years from now?

We want people to know how much Miller Prosthetics & Orthotics cares for our patients and how important our role is in giving any person their mobility, and more importantly, their life back after overcoming amputation. We pride ourselves in our employees as well, to create an environment where people want to come to work and make such an important impact on our community.
