Provide us with a brief summary of your business’ services

Heartland High School is a recovery high school for students who are in need of a school that can focus on both their addiction recovery, as well as their high school education.

Tell us about your company’s mission and values

Heartland’s mission is to provide a recovery-centered education that creates a sense of belonging, self-confidence, and purpose. Heartland’s values include service, respect, honesty, inclusion, and community.

What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?

By joining the Columbus Chamber, Heartland hopes to have access to other business professionals, ideas, and build partnerships throughout the communities we serve.  We feel that this membership will not only help us as we continue to the see the need for addiction and educational support, but that we can help others within chamber, who may or may not be familiar with Heartland High School.  We are hopeful that this partnership can help us with outreach, fundraising, marketing, and overall support for what we do.  

How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?

As with any trade, trends can come and go very quickly, but as in any industry, the key is to stay on top and find those trends that work or set you apart from others.  We have built relationships with the higher education settings such as OSU and Columbus State, as well as Children’s Hospital.  These partnerships continue to allow us to grow and explore new trends and to see what else is out there.  We also explore from a national level, by partnering with other Recovery High Schools around the nation, but ultimately being a member of the Association of Recovery Schools (ARS).  This partnership allows all the recovery schools to work together and focus on the trends we are seeing, how to adjust what we do, but ultimately, how to help the students excel.

What is your company culture like?

Our company culture believes that all adolescents in recovery deserve access to specialized educational and recovery supports, regardless of their socioeconomic status, background, race, religious affiliation, gender expression, etc.

What does it take to be a successful employee at your company?

A successful employee for Heartland is one that has good communication skills, is able to engage with young people, as well as communicating with other professionals.  Our employees need to be engaging, open, and honest and one that looks to empower others. As a team member, all employees work together for the betterment of our students and their families.

What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?

Columbus is such a beautiful city, that is the epicenter for the state of Ohio. Columbus has continued to grow as a business hub as well as a community where families want to live and raise their children.  As the city continues to grow, so do the opportunities for families who may need extra support and the community never fails to come together for someone who may need assistance.  Columbus continues to explore opportunities to grow and expand, which allows for opportunities for businesses and families to thrive.
