Tell us about your company’s mission and values.

Roetzel’s mission is straight forward:  We offer practical solutions for companies that are looking for real-world, innovative, responsive, and efficient legal advice. We offer advice, not just options. Solutions not just analysis.

What I value most about the firm is our entrepreneurial philosophy. We are encouraged to think like our clients – with business minds, ready to embrace new challenges and implement innovative approaches.

What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?

I am actively involved in the Columbus Chamber because it provides meaningful and valuable opportunities for networking and professional development. As a member of the Chamber’s Government Affairs Steering Committee, I have been awarded the opportunity to speak at a number of Chamber events, including the Chamber’s New Meets Next: Retail Summit on Cannabis and CBD and the Government Spotlight Post-Election Event. I look forward to continuing towork with the Chamber on issues facing the Columbus business community.

How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?

Our law firm is continually looking toward new solutions, including advanced technologies that help us stay ahead of the game. However, technology will never supplant the role of an attorney as a trusted counselor and advocate. To keep up with trends, the greatest asset we have as attorneys is to get out in our communities to talk with clients and community stakeholders. It is crucial to discuss with clients what they anticipate over their next two, five or even ten-years so we might look to learn what they need from us and be both proactive and reactive. I also regularly speak before local business groups and write client alerts on changing and developing topics in the law, which forces me to remain ever vigilant on trends that may affect current and future clients.

Social media is another crucial component to remaining cutting edge and familiar with trends. I regularly follow publications and influencers in my industry and have always maintained a close group of advisors. They help me see things that weren’t on my radar before, and spot what’s coming around the curve, as I do for them.

What is your company culture like?

Roetzel’s company culture is spirited and welcoming. All attorneys are encouraged to fully participate in the work of the firm and express their views and opinions on firm matters. Roetzel strives to give its employees a work environment that is conducive to growth and professional development. We care deeply about our Columbus community and encourage volunteer work and active support of many of the organizations that are important to the success of central Ohio. Our firm has been involved with the Columbus Chamber, the Salvation Army, St. Jude’s, the YWCA, the Women’s Fund of Central Ohio and the Columbus Museum of Art. Also, our Columbus office has been recognized by Columbus Business First as one of Columbus’ “Top 10 Best Places to Work.”

What does it take to be a successful employee at your company?

A critical problem solver with an innovative mindset.
