Working Families Need Relief Rally | Groundwork Ohio

June 17 @ 12:00 pm 1:00 pm

The Rally for Working Families is an opportunity to join child and family advocates from across the state to urge lawmakers to prioritize Ohio’s youngest children. The Ohio budget is being finalized now, and decisions are being made that will impact families for years to come.

Join the Rally for Working Families: June 17 at 12 noon | West Lawn, Ohio Statehouse
Across Ohio, parents are working hard and still feeling the squeeze. Families are dealing with soaring costs for child care, groceries, and housing – and an unfair tax code, making it increasingly difficult for them to make ends meet.

It’s time to fix that.

Governor DeWine has proposed solutions to provide tax relief and make child care more affordable for working families through a new Ohio Child Tax Credit and investments in child care. We are coming together to make sure children and families have the care and resources they need to thrive. We need to show lawmakers that Ohioans are paying attention—and we expect them to act.

Join us June 17 at 12 noon until 1:00 pm on the West Lawn of the Ohio Statehouse to stand up for working families. Let’s provide families with relief.

What’s at Stake:
At this very moment, Ohio lawmakers are considering policies that would support working families with young children and give them a little more peace of mind. The policies would lower costs for child care and put more money back in the pockets of working families.

We are calling on the Ohio General Assembly to help parents deal with rising costs by including the following solutions in the final Ohio budget. We ask our policymakers to:

  1. Provide tax relief for families who need it most. Reinstate a refundable state Child Tax Credit of up to $1,000 per child under age 7.
  2. Help more families afford childcare. Restore investments in child care access by expanding the eligibility level of publicly funded child care to 160% of the federal poverty level and fully funding the Child Care Choice Voucher program.

These investments would provide some relief to working families and support children during their most critical early years.
