Building Champions On and Off the Field

The Columbus Chamber of Commerce has announced a new strategic partnership with Ohio State Athletics, designed to connect the strength of the region’s business community with the energy and influence of Buckeye athletics.

The partnership will create new opportunities for businesses and student-athletes through name, image and likeness (NIL) education, mentorship, career pathways, and enhanced community engagement.

“Columbus is where business, education, and innovation come together to move our city forward. And our business community plays a big role in making that happen,” said Derrick R. Clay, President and CEO of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce. “The Columbus Chamber of Commerce represents thousands of businesses working every day to strengthen our region and create opportunity. That’s why we’re excited to announce a new partnership. Together, we’re creating new opportunities to support businesses and showcase the power of Columbus.”

“At Ohio State Athletics, our mission is to build champions. Building champions, on and off the field. And success like that always starts with teamwork,” said Ross Bjork, Senior Vice President and Wolfe Foundation–Eugene Smith Endowed Director of Athletics at Ohio State Athletics. “A partnership between Ohio State Athletics and the Columbus Chamber of Commerce – connecting the energy of Buckeye athletics with the strength of our business community.”

This collaboration is intended to strengthen connections between employers and student-athletes while supporting long-term talent development and retention in the Columbus Region. Through this partnership, businesses will have new opportunities to engage with student-athletes, participate in mentorship initiatives, and explore innovative workforce pathways.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to building a more connected, opportunity-rich ecosystem for businesses, student-athletes, and the broader community.
