Ohio House of Representatives Chief Legal Counsel Kevin Stanek Rejoins Barnes & Thornburg

COLUMBUS – Barnes & Thornburg announced today that Kevin Stanek has rejoined the firm’s Government Services and Finance Department in Columbus. Most recently, Stanek was Chief Legal Counsel for the Ohio House of Representatives, providing legal analysis of legislation, overseeing ethics compliance and financial disclosure filings, and serving as a top adviser to the Speaker of the House.

An attorney with Barnes & Thornburg for nearly five years, from 2018-2023, Stanek represents clients in policy matters and governmental affairs before the Ohio General Assembly, executive agencies, and state boards and commissions. He leverages his understanding of the policies, procedures, and personalities that drive government decision-making to create enduring solutions for clients. He also represents clients on public finance deals, local economic development, white collar investigations and defense, and corporate governance and transactions.

Stanek’s prior government experience also includes serving as assistant chief counsel and assistant director of policy for asset management for former Ohio Gov. John R. Kasich and associate general counsel to the Ohio Office of Budget and Management.

Stanek earned his J.D. from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and his B.A., cum laude, from Ohio State University.
