Job Site Trailer Project Overview

In the fall of 2023, Purdy Company was approached by a local electrical contractor to take their operational efficiency to the next level and gain a competitive and financial advantage in this competitive industry. They were looking to outfit (2) of their 23-foot enclosed trailers with storage and workspace options. This particular contractor works at jobsites all around the country and needed a safe and efficient way to transport their tools, hardware and supplies. Simply stacking and loading the trailers wasn’t working for them. They were constantly losing parts and tools, wasting time locating what they need, and losing valuable time and money. By outfitting the trailers with a custom selection of lockable shelves and cabinets and a secured worktable, the trailers improved work efficiency, costs, and allowed the trailer to double as a mobile office while at the job site. Additionally, the company was able to improve the working conditions for their staff by improving worker comfort and convenience.

Designing the ultimate mobile office and supply trailers

The design process is simple and easy. These mobile storage and workspace trailers are 100 percent customizable to your specific business needs. You partner with Purdy Company to scope your project and identify and select the shelves, cabinets, storage elements, and workspace needs, and our team does the rest! Purdy Company then works with our trusted engineering partner, Pucel Enterprises, located in Cleveland, Ohio to design and manufacture all of the components. We start with a sketch on paper noting all of the needs and elements you need and any considerations we need to be aware of. We also take into account what product will be stored, space required for equipment, worker conveniences, as well as weights and capacity of the trailer. For this specific project, some of the items stored included hand tools, job boxes, electrical components and hardware, PPE, ladders and much more. Having a balanced load was also important for this specific customer because of the highway travel and many miles this trailer would be subject to.

After all items are taken into consideration, we created a 3D model to review with the customer and make any necessary revisions until they decided on the perfect layout. The final step before production is to approve and sign the approval drawing and move into the production que. Once the materials are produced and received by Purdy Company, our expert installers assembled and install all components at our 20,000 square foot facility in Gahanna, OH.
