Provide us with a brief summary of your business’ services.

Versiti Blood Center of Ohio is the new blood supplier for the OSU Wexner Medical Center, chosen for our expertise in blood utilization and rare blood types.  As Versiti, we integrate scientific innovation, medicine and serve in ways that no other blood health organization can match.  In addition to blood donations, we help to strengthen and restore the health of our communities, through diagnostic testing and groundbreaking research.

Tell us about your company’s mission and values.

Our Mission: We are Blood Health Innovators who enhance lives through discovery, diagnosis, and treatment.

Our Vision: We will expand the frontiers of patient health through the integration of science, medicine, and service.

What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?

To ensure we meet patient needs, it is essential we share our mission with Columbus businesses, organizations and community groups who can help us to save lives through blood donation.  Those who donate with Versiti Blood Center of Ohio benefit patients at The Ohio State University Wexner medical Center.  Serving Wexner Medical Center means we are critical community partner and can directly impact the health and wellness of community members.

How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?

Versiti is a member of American’s Blood Centers (ABC) as well as the American Association of Blood   Banks (AABB).  Many of our physicians are also members of the American Society of Hematology (ASH).  Many serve on their committees, and have been long-time members.  We are highly engaged in their annual conferences, and as thought leaders, our experts are frequently called upon by these organizations to serve as presenters; act as spokespeople and write articles.

What is your company culture like?

We work better together, across the blood banking industry and as a Versiti team.  Versiti culture is supported by four Core Values: Do Right Always, Strengthen the Team, Find a Better Way and Make Results Happen.  We are committed to developing and sustaining a blood donor community while seeking innovative discoveries to find better treatments for blood related diseases, such as leukemia, sickle cell and to help trauma patients.

What does it take to be a successful employee at your company?

Each and every team member at Versiti is part of the greater vision to serve patients in need.  We are focused on our blood donors experience and serving our hospital partners at the highest level.

What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?

Columbus is nationally renowned for our culture of collaboration, being philanthropically minded to provide success for all- especially our most vulnerable friends and neighbors.  Community members and businesses alike contribute generously from their hearts to find solutions and make our city a great place to live.   We are proud to be part of the community, and serving a distinguished organization such as The Wexner Medical Center.

What pieces of advice have you found to be the most helpful since starting your career?

A great friend and mentor once told me to avoid Analysis Paralysis.  It’s easy to get wrapped up in the what ifs and looking at a situation over and over again, sometimes we just have to act- make the ask, “no” can be the beginning of a conversation.
