Provide us with a brief summary of your business’ services.

We’re a boutique management consulting firm that helps clients overcome their biggest challenges to create more value for their customers.

Clients hire us to work on strategy or build organizational capability in the areas like Sales, Marketing, Customer Insights & Experience, Innovation & Leadership Development, for example.

We stay with clients to help implement solutions beyond the playbook we recommend and use a lot of behavioral science. Implementation and practice often differs from the conceptual plan designed, so we stay with clients to help them say and do the right things when that happens.

This is important to our clients because it makes them better leaders in the process.

Tell us about your company’s mission and values.

The first place I’d start is the genesis of our name. Our company name comes from ancient Rome, where history says victorious gladiators were given a white stone. Engraved on one side of the white stone was the emperor’s name, on the other, the name of the gladiator. How cool is that?

This white stone symbolized the courage of facing an enormous challenge with the skill to overcome it and rise victorious. Since we help clients overcome their biggest challenges to rise victorious it made a ton of sense to make this part of our brand story.

Our mission is to hardware organizations and people to excel at value creation.

Our research shows few people can accurately explain how value is created. Everyone wants to be valuable, but few can explain how, I call this the value creation inversion.

We use long term retainers, projects, transactional advisory, workshops, and keynotes to improve our clients’ condition. Value creation governs every engagement and we keep our values simple but designed with client value in mind.

  • Victory. Significantly improve our client’s performance
  • Trust. Build lasting relationships on a foundation of trust
  • Do. Knowledge is power only when applied through behavior
  • Value. Only accept engagements where value created significantly exceeds our fees
  • Integrity. Ethics and confidentiality are regarded highly
  • Beliefs. Thinking differently precedes improved results
  • Leadership. Engagements must improve the effectiveness of our client’s leaders

What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?

If you haven’t been to the annual meeting – go! The annual meeting is an excellent, well-run event, so I’m always looking forward to attending that one. And now that I’ve been to my first Lobster Fest, I can definitely say I’m looking forward to that next year. The weather was perfect, the people were great, the location was on point – oh, and by the way – the food was wonderful.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the brilliant people we have in the Elevate CBUS program. Any opportunity I get to spend with bright people who are committed to growing as a leader is an opportunity I’ll take.

What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?

Hands down it’s people and growth. It’s easy to find people in Columbus who excel at their craft and care about lifting up others at the same time. It’s great to be part of the Rising Midwest. I’ve lived in places where the people were great, but there was no growth and it creates a very different dynamic. Columbus has great people and strong growth and that’s special.
