Provide us with a brief summary of your business’ services
The Blue Collar Recruiter is a family owned, Columbus-based recruiting firm that specializes in the skilled trades for employers with operations in Columbus. We handle the entire recruiting process from sourcing, vetting and scheduling so that your team can focus on the most critical steps which are final interviewing and hiring.
Our team’s diverse skills and experiences in the skilled labor industries allow us to provide customized hiring solutions for our corporate partners while supporting the candidates in furthering their professional careers.
Let us roll out the “blue carpet” to your organization by helping you save time and valuable resources while hiring top notch skilled trades personnel.
Tell us about your company’s mission and values
We are maniacal for all things related to skilled trades recruiting and our mission to connect our clients with great talent to help them achieve their corporate goals.
Our Core Pillars are:
• We are Connectors. We’re more than just recruiters; we’re connectors. We bridge the gap between skilled trades professionals and companies, bringing together ideas, people, and opportunities.
• We are Passionate Problem Solvers. We believe in creative and innovative solutions. Whether it’s finding the perfect candidate for a niche role or overcoming a challenging recruitment scenario, we approach every situation with enthusiasm and a willingness to think outside the box.
• We use Positive Proactive Motion. We believe in the power of positive action. Positive motion, whether it’s reaching out to potential candidates, exploring new opportunities, or attending industry events, it keeps us moving forward.
• We have Efficient Focus and Attention to Detail. We understand the importance of efficiency and attention to detail in the recruiting process. By minimizing distractions and streamlining our workflows, we can focus on what matters most: finding the right candidates for the right jobs.
What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?
The Columbus Chamber provides so many great services and opportunities for companies of all sizes. We’ve found remaining in close contact with our Account Specialist LJ Boggs is key to ensuring we stay in tune with the various workshops, luncheons and other resources. She also reminds us of the various services and opportunities that are included in our membership – with the numerous benefits it’s easy to forget.
Finally, given the nature of our business as skilled trades recruiters, we love the level of participation at the various events and our ability to interact with other members in order to share ideas and discuss common challenges.
How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
We are involved in a number of recruiting associations to stay up on the latest trends in recruiting. However, the majority of our marketplace participation and research is focused on the micro-trends in the industries of our clients and the talent/hiring challenges they are facing. Staying in touch with these issues helps us to develop recruiting solutions to best fit our clients’ needs.
What is your company culture like?
As a company with team members spread throughout the US and beyond, we are primarily a remote organization. The majority of our in-person activities occur with clients, candidates and trades groups.
As a result of our remote structure, our culture is geared toward empowering individuals to make key decisions while also interacting with our support functions and team leadership.
This promotes a culture of:
• Independent thought while collaborating.
• Ownership while leveraging tools and human support.
• Personal balance while supporting the team.
• Empathy while executing.
What does it take to be a successful employee at your company?
A successful team member with The Blue Collar Recruiter provides impactful value to our clients and candidates. A good team member embraces a performance culture both in terms of professional development but also personal well-being.
We lean in hard to our Core Pillars to make this happen. If we do these things individually and collectively, “success” will follow.
What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?
Columbus has a number of characteristics such as its diverse population size, geographic location, a large university community, corporate headquarters, etc. which are foundational for a great place to do business. However, we believe that one attribute that sets Columbus apart is it’s Midwest grounding in a positive “can do” mentality and willingness to lean in together to accomplish common goals.
