Ohio CASA is the state member driven Association that supports all 46 local CASA programs and leads the expansion efforts to establish local CASA programs serving children in all 88 Ohio counties.

Tell us about your company’s mission and values

CASA programs (Court Appointed Special Advocates) use well trained community volunteers to advocate for children in court, who have been abused or neglected, for the child’s best interest. The CASA volunteers conduct extensive research on the child’s circumstances and makes recommendations to the court regarding how to best achieve for the child a safe, stable, and permanent home, most often with the family of origin. The CASA volunteer achieves this through consistent contact with the child and family and by helping the child and family be successful with their case plan..

What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?

As a volunteer dependent organization the public education and networking available through the Chamber will be most beneficial. As a small non-profit, the sharing of ideas and resources will also be a benefit.

How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?

Networking through colleagues and businesses of similar missions; trainings and web research.

What is your company culture like?

Our office is committed to providing beneficial support to all of the local offices providing direct service to all of the children and families in need. We cannot be viewed as an obstacle or impediment but as a partner and resource for the difficult work that they do.

What does it take to be a successful employee at your company?

We are most successful with passionate and creative employees who do not accept “no” or roadblocks as an answer. The children with whom we work, directly and indirectly, do not have the time or the luxury of waiting for solutions. Experienced and self-motivated employees are of the most value to our work.

What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?

The resources, people, and ease of interaction are three of Columbus’ greatest strengths.
