First Bank of Central Ohio (FBCO) provides a complete range of banking services for both Columbus-area businesses and residents, including checking and savings accounts, credit cards, business and personal loans, commercial and home mortgages, and other specialized products, all designed to make it easier to manage their finances and simplify their daily life.
Tell us about your company’s mission and values
Consolidation of banks in Columbus over recent years has led to limited choices for many area businesses. First Bank of Central Ohio was formed specifically to meet the growing need for more personal, dedicated banking resources.
As a local community bank, FBCO is committed to building the type of sustainable relationship that businesses in our community need to grow and prosper, based on three simple principles – experience, expertise, and engagement.
Led by a group of area business owner-operators, our team understands what it takes to successfully run a business – and is uniquely capable of helping our customers meet short-term and long-term banking and financing needs.
What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?
We are looking forward to taking part in the various networking, marketing, and training opportunities available through the Columbus Chamber. Partnering with great organizations and people are essential to our continued growth in the Columbus market.
How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
FBCO employs several strategies to stay well-informed about industry trends and guide its business decision-making, including participation in a variety of professional associations and relevant conferences, subscriptions to key publications, as well as the use of podcasts and other online resources.
The bank also recruits and maintains top executives on its board of directors from the key industries it serves to better understand how to better tailor solutions and best meet the financial needs of those customers, including medical and dental practices, real estate developers, and property management firms.
What is your company culture like?
First Bank of Central Ohio is built around a commitment to personalized service that delivers a better banking experience by putting customers first. This requires establishing an environment that encourages collaboration and teamwork in order to ensure everyone is working together and focused on that goal. Our employees are valued for their ability to solve issues and rewarded when they work to make sure customers receive the help they need and attention they deserve. As a local bank, FBCO employees are also encouraged to get involved in activities important to those communities to further strengthen those personal ties.
What does it take to be a successful employee at your company?
The most successful employees at FBCO are those who enjoy working directly with customers to make sure they are getting the right solution for their needs and who are willing to go the extra mile to make sure they are satisfied with the outcome. Our team members understand the importance of building relationships in our business and enjoy spending time with customers, whether in the branch or on the phone. They always treat clients and other bank associates with respect, while maintaining the highest standards of integrity in all their interactions.
What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?
As one of the fastest growing cities in America, Columbus has a diverse economic base that offers tremendous opportunity for businesses of all types to develop and grow. For FBCO, we are able to help those companies – big and small – get the funding and operating capital they need to prosper. Because Columbus still maintains somewhat of a smaller town character, it has also a very active business community where business owners frequently network and support each other, wanting to see everyone be successful.
