Columbus, OH — Zinnia Films, a leading video production company with a growing presence in Columbus, has launched “Reel Connections,” a new quarterly networking event designed to strengthen business relationships through volunteering. The group held its inaugural event at Lifecare Alliance, a Columbus-based nonprofit that provides vital services such as Meals-on-Wheels, senior dining centers, and health and wellness programs for older adults and individuals with medical challenges.

David Morley, Founder and Principal of Zinnia Films, shared the motivation behind the initiative:

“Our video production work typically aligns with nonprofits and with culture-forward businesses. We believe that creating events like this helps strengthen both the business community, and the broader Columbus community. In so doing, we’re also creating a space for authentic business connections.”

The Columbus-based networking group will meet four times a year, each time partnering with a different local nonprofit to combine professional networking with hands-on service. The first event included a tour of Lifecare Alliance’s Harmon Road Corridor facility as well as assembling furniture for an upcoming fundraiser.

Maddy Leitner, Columbus bureau chief at Zinnia Films, highlighted the impact of starting the program with Lifecare Alliance:

“Partnering with Lifecare Alliance was the perfect way to launch this initiative. Their work providing essential services to seniors and individuals with medical needs is so important.”

The inaugural event included leaders from several other local nonprofit organizations, as well as people from professional service organizations.

“Volunteering together created a sense of camaraderie and purpose that you don’t often get from traditional networking events,” Leitner says.

The next Reel Connections event is scheduled for early summer, with details to be announced soon. Columbus-based businesses and professionals interested in joining next time are encouraged to contact Zinnia Films for more information.
