David Specht elevated to Chief Operating Officer

(Columbus, Ohio) Watermark Home Services, Ohio’s leading plumbing, drain, heating and cooling services contractor, announces the appointment of David Specht, previously President of The Waterworks, as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). In his new role, David Specht will play a pivotal role in overseeing, optimizing and growing the regional operations for all Watermark Home Services companies. Watermark’s family of companies include respected brands throughout Ohio, including The Waterworks Plumbing, Drain, Heating & Cooling in Columbus, Atherton Plumbing, Dayton, The Plumbing Source, Cleveland, and in the Cincinnati market, Ken Neyer Plumbing, Nixco Plumbing, and JonLe Heating & Cooling.

“David’s years of experience and industry expertise will be instrumental in driving Watermark’s development and growth, while maintaining our commitment to excellence in the trades,” said Greg Chelap, Watermark Home Services CEO.

Mr. Specht joined The Waterworks in October 1998. From 1998 to 2001, he served as Vice-President of Operations and became President in November 2001. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mr. Specht grew up in a family plumbing business and eventually attended trade school. He currently holds a State of Ohio Contractor Certificate as a Master Plumber. Mr. Specht has held a number of industry-related positions for a variety of companies, including  roles as territory manager for Kohler Plumbing Company and sales and marketing manager for Carr Supply Inc.

As part of the leadership restructure, Tom Kaczkowski is promoted to the role of President of The Waterworks. For the past nine years, Mr. Kaczkowski served as Vice-President for the company, Overseeing both commercial and residential operations. In an internal statement to employees, David Specht noted “his leadership, financial acumen, people skills, and vision for growth have led The Waterworksthrough some interesting business challenges since his early days in 2015, including, but not limited to, a reenergized commitment to heating and cooling, the COVID-19 company rules and regulations, and enhanced CRM systems to name a few. He has consistently demonstrated, by his continuing efforts and accomplishments, that he embodies the core competencies to assume the role of President.”

Prior to the Waterworks, Mr. Kaczkowski served as the Operations Manager for The Continental Group and as District Sales Manager for Mohawk Industries. Tom’s life-long love of coaching began early on with a career that spanned over 20 years, ending with a highly successful run as a head football coach for Ohio Northern University. Tom  uses the skills honed as a head  coach to drive the day-to-day strategy, of not only the operations of The Waterworks, but as a teaching tool for technicians and apprentices.
