The news today regarding proposed 40% staffing cuts to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is deeply concerning. Small businesses are the backbone of the Columbus Region and our national economy – fueling innovation, job creation, and community development.

At the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, we support business – including small business. We remain committed to helping them navigate challenges, connect to vital resources, and grow. The SBA plays a critical role in this work, particularly for historically underserved entrepreneurs, and cuts of this magnitude could disrupt the essential support systems they rely on. The SBA provides critical assistance through federally backed loans and grants—supporting businesses impacted by natural disasters, guiding entrepreneurs on international trade, and offering essential resources that help small businesses and nonprofit organizations remain resilient and grow.

As always, the Chamber will continue to be the leader and driving force in building a prosperous economy for the Columbus Region. We are a trusted partner and advocate, ensuring our business community – large and small – has the tools, networks, and visibility needed to thrive.
