Provide us with a brief summary of your business’ services

Women Just Like Me (WJLM) is non profit organization that provides supportive programs and resources to girls, at-risk girls, and young families in need of additional support and striving to improve their welfare and wellbeing. WJLM offers socio-emotional learning led by LSW, social and emotional (SEL) educators, group mentoring, one on one counseling and parenting resources and support.

Tell us about your company’s mission and values

Women Just Like Me provides supportive services and resources to at-risk girls, teen mothers and families in disadvantaged communities. Women Just Like Me priority is to reduce teen pregnancy, provide education on women’s health, and to support marginalized groups. To incorporates compassion and empathy in every one of its programs. WJLM leaders and volunteers are dedicated to supporting and helping to provide effective programs for youth and families to help them achieve better outcomes in their life.

What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?

As a small non profit that depends heavily on volunteers networking and training opportunities would be most beneficial.

How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?

Networking with colleagues, stay updated with training opportunities, and strengthening partnerships with companies that have similar goals and objectives.

What is your company culture like?

WJLM provides a space of inclusiveness an environment where every person feels comfortable to express their thoughts, opinions and share their story. We recruit leaders that create positive impact and that demonstrates a genuine interest in the lives of our girls and young women; and we strive to create a place where our supporters feels like family.

What does it take to be a successful employee at your company?

We are most successful when volunteers and leaders are passionate about our mission and show genuine interest in the work we are doing.

Columbus is a city that continues to grow with more business and employment opportunities, and small and minority led businesses are beginning to gain support.
