At Starry, we have a foundational belief that access to ubiquitous, reliable broadband internet is a social good. Our mission is to connect as many people as possible to affordable, high-quality home broadband so that every family has the opportunity to participate in and benefit from digital access, for work, school, healthcare and so much more.
However, we know that the cost of high-quality broadband internet is often out of financial reach for our most vulnerable communities. In late 2018, we launched our digital equity program, Starry Connect, to provide ultra-low-cost broadband access in public and affordable housing communities. Starry Connect provides residents a robust 30 Mbps symmetrical service plan with no data caps, no long-term contracts, no extra fees and all equipment, 24/7 customer care and installation included for $15 per month. Importantly, Starry Connect does not require customer credit checks or participation in other subsidy programs to qualify for service. By partnering with housing owners, we provide blanket eligibility across communities and remove the onerous barriers that many of our families encounter when trying to sign up for low-cost broadband service.
We’re proud that we’ve grown the Starry Connect program to reach more than 30,000 units of public and affordable housing across our markets. Starry Connect is a direct and tangible manifestation of how we live and execute our company values and invest in the communities we serve. We’re excited to expand this important digital equity program across Columbus.
