Established in 1952 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Sheetz, Inc. is one of America’s fastest-growing family-owned and operated convenience store chains with more than 20,000 employees. The company operates over 600 store locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina.
Tell us about your company’s mission and values.
Sheetz prides itself in being the best neighbor that it can be in each of the communities our store locations call home. We seek to provide great careers for our employees, assist each of our communities through charitable work/donations and to be a convenient “one-stop-shop” for our customers.
What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?
We are looking forward to further connecting with the communities surrounding our new store locations.
How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
The goal of Sheetz is to always strive to put “the Sheetz of today out of business.” One example is that we were the first in our industry to introduce touch screen ordering in the mid-1990s. That innovation has further evolved to include giving our customers the ability to order and customize menu items through our website/app – and most recently, to select and purchase items in our stores using our app and without visiting a cash register.
Please describe your company culture.
When founder Bob Sheetz started the company in 1952, he realized how important it was to bring his childhood values into the workplace. He knew that by sharing these values with our employees, he was helping to build a strong brand. A brand that our employees could be proud of, a brand our customers could trust.

What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?
We like the growth, the infrastructure and the extent to which the populations’ need states align with our best customers in our other markets. Although we have a lot to prove, there is already decent brand recognition in the market and we feel our offer will be unique to Columbus.
