Shadowbox Live (SBX) is an independent, artist-operated theater company in Columbus, Ohio.  We are the nation’s largest resident theater ensemble, employing over 50 full-time metaperformers and arts professionals that produce an average of 10 original productions across 200 performances annually. Our high energy troupe produces live art experiences that fuse elements of music, comedy, drama, dance, and digital content under “a rock aesthetic.” The performers serve food and drinks before every show, giving the intimate, warehouse space a cabaret vibe that sets it apart from the usual “dinner and a show” experience. With a 35-year history of producing and creating original shows that celebrate “the power of art,” Shadowbox Live is a one-of-a-kind destination

Mission: To engage the world around us, enrich the community amongst us, and entertain those in front of us.

We use the power of original live performance art to create a unified expression of joy that is shared within our community through engaged educational programming, enhanced partnerships, and inspired civic givebacks.

How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?

One way Shadowbox Live stays engaged with industry trends is through our relationship with Theater Communications Group (TCG) and other mid-size regional theaters. By exchanging data about attendance, development, and marketing efforts, we can keep abreast of the latest trends and adapt its strategies accordingly. This constant exchange of information allows the company to remain relevant and competitive in the ever-evolving world of theater.

Furthermore, Shadowbox Live values the courage to fail, daring too much, and remaining unapologetically imperfect. These values foster an environment where great art is made, and making great art is what the company strives to do.
