Burns and Scalo Ohio offers roofing and sheet metal solutions for commercial and industrial applications. Our certified commercial roofing contractors also specialize in metal wall panels. As a proud roofing AND solar company, we also install and advise on commercial solar power solutions and green roofing systems.

Tell us about your company’s mission and values

Burns and Scalo was founded in 1956 by John T Scalo and Duke Burns as a residential roofing company. Under the leadership of John’s son, current CEO Jack Scalo has grown the business in size and scope to become Central OH’s premier roofing company.

Although the company has grown tremendously, the company still shares the same core values, mission, vision, and family ownership. We believe that the customer, employee, and company are all stakeholders in the success of Burns & Scalo. It is our commitment to continually evolve and energize our business to offer the most advanced products, services, and first-class customer experience. That is the Burns and Scalo difference.

What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?

Since relationships are one of the most important things in business, we hope to engage in as many networking opportunities as possible. By attending events and meetings, we hope to get to know fellow Chamber members on a more personal level. There is also a growing number of business resources the Chamber offers to its members that may not be readily available to the public. There are also specific opportunities to showcase our products and services to help move our business forward.

How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?

Staying engaged with trends in the commercial roofing industry requires a multi-pronged approach combining research, networking, and continuous learning. Social media is here and it is a juggernaut! By following industry leaders, roofing manufacturers, and trade organizations on platforms like LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), and Facebook, we are able to stay up to date with the latest industry trends. We are also able to join online forums and groups where professionals share their experiences and discuss trends, innovations, and challenges.

What is your company culture like?

What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?

Columbus has historically been a city of growth, and our goal is to be in the middle of that growth with our business. With its central location, diverse economy, and lower cost of living compared to most major cities, it has developed strong sectors including technology, finance, education, healthcare, logistics, and manufacturing. The city also has a growing food, arts, and entertainment scene – not to mention THE Ohio State University.
