About New Americans Magazine
The New Americans magazine is a general interest publication informing, educating and entertaining the community, especially the new American, immigrant and refugee community in Ohio and the rest of America. It was established in 2016 to fill the glaring void in reporting the activities of the growing new American community and has become a voice of the community.
It started as a 4-page monthly newsletter in 2016. It grew to a 16-page monthly magazine the following year, and then to 20 pages till 2020 when the challenge of COVID affected our ability to get the required adverts for monthly print. The print edition was then suspended.
But it led to our shifting focus to the daily online publication which has grown exponentially since then leading to over 10,000 subscribers. The New Americans magazine has become very active on major social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter (X), LinkedIn, Instagram, Thread and WhatsApp, where we broadcast daily to 56 diverse communities, including from Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.
Prior to suspending the print edition, we circulated through subscriptions and distribution to special spots like the library, YMCA, government offices, Chamber of Commerce and international markets.
However, the New Americans magazine has been printing special editions through partnership and sponsorship with organizations like the Park National Bank, Columbus Metropolitan Library, Central Ohio Transit Authority, COTA, Heart of Ohio Health and Felbry College of Nursing.
It is at the final stage of resuming the monthly print from July 2024, especially with the recent offer of monthly adverts and support from the Park National Bank and the Columbus Chamber of Commerce.
The magazine also partners with the New American Community Information Center to organize the annual New Americans Book Fair with the 2024 edition holding on Saturday, September 21st at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Karl Road branch. It began in 2022 with the first book fair held at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Karl Road branch and the 2023 edition at the Dublin branch. Over 100 authors, artists, agents, printers and publishers have participated.
The Publisher of the New Americans magazine, Deba Uwadiae is a member of the Ohio Legislative Correspondents Association, located at the Ohio Statehouse to cover the state and legislative activities.

Bumble’s Backyard
Bumble’s Backyard is Columbus’s first off-leash dog park, bar and coffee shop. Located in Franklinton, Bumble’s Backyard will have all of the features that your typical dog park or dog-friendly patio are missing. We’ll have beverages, seating areas and shade for the humans and a mess-free turf yard for the pups. We plan to start construction very soon with a goal of opening in late summer. We can’t wait to welcome all of the good dogs and good people of Columbus through our gates!
