2026 Community Waste Reduction Grant Applications Are Live | SWACO

SWACO, the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio, is now accepting applications for the next Community Waste Reduction Grant (CWRG) cycle. These grants are designed to provide funding to assist with establishing projects that address unique waste reduction, recycling, and composting needs in central Ohio.
Projects occurring in the 2026 calendar year will be considered for this cycle. Projects should emphasize partnership building and collaboration, and address opportunities to leverage the waste stream for community and economic benefit.
Eligible applicants must be in SWACO’s jurisdiction and be local governmental or non-profit organizations including cities, townships, villages, parks, K-12 schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, and churches.
In recent years, hundreds of thousands of dollars in CWRG funding has been awarded to to dozens of local organizations including the cities of Dublin and Gahanna, Hilliard City Schools, Impact Community Action, Goodwill Industries of Central Ohio, and Otterbein and Ohio Dominican Universities to help implement waste reduction, recycling, and composting programs and initiatives.

The CWRG program supports innovative material diversion projects by providing financial support to help offset the costs of these efforts. If a project is selected for grant funding, grantees will be required to document and measure the impact of the project activities. Recipients will submit a final report detailing the impact, successes, and challenges after the project.
The project must take place within SWACO’s jurisdiction.

Grant Cycle Important Dates:
- Grant Application Opens: May 15, 2025
- Grant Applications Due: August 1, 2025
- Grant Award Recipient Notifications: December, 2025
- Funds Released: January/February, 2026
