Our Ohio River Valley Region Joins National Effort as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Becomes Blood Cancer United | Blood Cancer United
October 2nd, 2025
New Name, Same Mission: Supporting Every Blood Cancer Patient

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society — is now Blood Cancer United, the largest global nonprofit focused on serving blood cancer patients, and its Columbus and our Ohio River Valley Region is proud to join the movement to reach more blood cancer patients and their families across central Ohio.
Locally, Light the Night on October 9, 2025 will be among the first regional events to debut under the new brand. The event will reflect the organization’s expanded commitment to serve all blood cancer patients and will feature new campaign visuals and messaging built around a powerful idea:
“We’re all about blood cancer, so people with blood cancer can be about everything else,” said Dawn Berryman, Executive Director. “This rebrand evolution helps make our purpose clearer—and strengthens how we connect with the people and communities we serve right here in Columbus.”
Blood Cancer United has set an ambitious bold goal: By 2040, enable patients with blood cancer to gain more than one million years of life.
The rebrand also includes a nationwide PSA campaign, updated logo and visual identity, and refreshed messaging across websites, events, and social platforms—all designed to improve access, visibility, and connection with the blood cancer community.
