Tell us about your company’s mission and values

Holbrook & Manter has been in business as a continuous firm since 1919. We have not been around for nearly 104 years without putting our clients first. Our top mission, every day, is providing top rate service to the clients that trust us with some of their most personal information. It doesn’t get much more personal than finances. Providing this level of service is not about number crunching. It is about investing in the long-term success of our clients and their businesses, helping them set and reach goals, working them to overcome challenges.

Our firm values hard work. We expect it from every single team member and they always deliver. We value passion for our industry and all that we do. We value attention to detail. W also value the investments we make in our team so they can provide first-class service to our clients. Whether that is through continuing educuation and training or various benefits. Holbrook & Manter is employee-owned, which is a very progressive thing in our industry. It allows our team members to have a real seat at the table and a say in our future.

What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?

Our service offerings are unique in the fact that they extend far beyond the traditional offerings of an accounting firm. Many are surprised to see just how full-service we are for our size. We offer many larger scale services that many people believe can only be executed by larger firms. Our risk advisory practice is a good example of this, offering both SOC and SOX services. We are also excited at the prospect of being a full accounting outsourced solution for chamber members. We have the capacity to handle every accounting function for any size business, which saves owners overhead, money and the worry that their internal team members may vacate their role. Plus, we can execute these tasks at a faster rate than internal staff. We are all about the business owner having more time to focus on the reasons why they went into business in the first place… the things they are passionate about. And, they can do that by letting handle the accounting matters for them.

How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?

We make substantial efforts in this space. Efforts that go way beyond our team members having memberships to various organizations, etc. We are always monitoring industry trends and changes so we can react accordingly. For several years, we have belonged to Allinial Global, an international association of accounting and professional services firm. This affiliation offers us countless opportunities to education about industry trends and client needs. Several of our team members are involved in the associations various communities of practice and some even head them up. We send team members around the world for the continuing education offerings. All of this gives us a front row seat to the changes taking place within our industry as we watch firms around the world implement new practices.


We are also very committed to the technology our firm uses, making sure we are offering the latest tech options to both our team and our clients.

What is your company culture like?

We know everyone says this, but when it comes to our culture it just truly is the case. Our clients come first. The conversations had between team members each day are almost always centered around a client need and how we can meet it. Our employees are gritty- but in a good way. The ways we know our clients on so many levels drives our culture. Other than the client always being top of mind, our team is a family. Being a mid-size firm allows us all to know each other on a deeper level. We know each other’s strengths and we grow because we recognize them and build upon them. It is impossible not to foster a family-like culture when the clients you serves are family-owned and closely-held businesses.

What does it take to be a successful employee at your company?

A successful employee at Holbrook & Manter has to care. Care about the clients they serve. Care about providing accurate and timely deliverables. Care about their own professional and personal growth. Care about their community. A successful employee is well-rounded and fully committed.

What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?

The growth we have seen in Columbus and that we continue to see at such a fast rate is very exciting. Our firm started with our Marion location. Then, we branched out to Marysville and then we entered the Columbus market. We now have additional locations in the Grandview area, Worthington/Lewis Center and Dublin. We love that we touch so many corners of the region because the excitement and growth extends far beyond the downtown area.
