This aligns nicely as his role with the Workforce Development Board of Central Ohio is to engage and partner with employers, educational institutions, economic development professionals, and community stakeholders that provide direct and impactful opportunities to our job seekers.

 

 

Brenda Hanes
Goodwill Columbus

Brenda Hanes has been with Goodwill Columbus since 1992. She started at the organization in the Senior Additional Growth Experience program as a Work Specialist, and has grown with the organization to her current role as a Program Manager in Workforce Development.

As a Program Manager, she oversees the disability team, helping individuals with obstacles to employment get on the path to self-sufficiency. She also oversees TANF WEP, which provides individuals receiving benefits from Job and Family Services with volunteer and work opportunities. In her time at Goodwill, Brenda has developed new programs and services including LifeWorks, which assists individuals with developmental disabilities with training and work experiences; brought Project Search, a workforce development program for individuals with barriers, to Columbus; and was instrumental in helping Res Care Workforce Services, Job and Family Services, Jewish Family Services, Columbus Urban League and National Center for Urban Solutions establish and implement a successful workforce collaboration.

Jeff Girard

Jeff Girard is currently the Senior Vice President of Distribution & Logistics for Designer Brands (formerly DSW).  Prior to this, Jeff served in various roles with DSW from Manager of Industrial Engineering to Director of Operations.

Jeff began his career with United Parcel Service where he served in many different capacities within operations and engineering. Jeff has over 30 years of experience in the logistics industry with 23 years in retail. In addition to his role with Designer brands, Jeff is an active participate with the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America, Handshake America, and currently sits on the Board of Directors for Goodwill Columbus.

Mike Lampl
Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation
Panelist

Mike Lampl is the Research Director for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC), Division of Safety & Hygiene.  He has 25+ years of experience in occupational safety and health.

He obtained his B.S in Industrial & Systems Engineering at the Ohio State University and his M.S. in Occupation Health at the Medical College of Ohio.    Mike co-manages the safety grant programs at the BWC.
