Part of our Columbus Region Logistics Council series
International Air Cargo volume grew by 65 percent last year at Rickenbacker International Airport. No, that’s not a typo. Diligent business development efforts, some unusual business opportunities (horses, for instance), a strong economy, the growth of e-Commerce and economic development initiatives have all played a role.
David Whitaker, Chief Commercial Officer for the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, will provide a detailed update on how far the airport has come in the past five years, the many international players now serving Rickenbacker and the opportunities to do business at the primarily cargo airport.
Steve Schellenberg, a logistics consultant helping the CRAA craft its 20-year master plan for Rickenbacker, will provide unique industry insights including cargo projections for Rickenbacker and the global air cargo market – and a sense of what those projections will mean for both Rickenbacker and the Central Ohio logistics industry. He’ll also discuss the consumer, economic and technological trends driving the broader growth of air cargo, and the opportunities those trends may create for those in the logistics industry.
Q&A session to follow presentation.
