Partnership to celebrate innovation and trendsetting in Central Ohio

Columbus, OH, Jan. 17, 2018 – The Columbus Chamber of Commerce has debuted its first new episode of cbuzz, the region’s first business-themed podcast, in a partnership to reboot the series with Capital University.

The series features intimate conversations with leaders and innovators from the area business community sharing first-hand experiences in strategy, entrepreneurship, finance, recruiting and many other areas.

Production takes place at Capital’s Convergent Media Center, a state-of the-art facility opened in 2017 that allows faculty and students from diverse areas of study—ranging from communication and music, to electronic media, film, design, creative writing, marketing and others—to organically create, learn and collaborate in new ways.

Capital students, faculty and staff are playing instrumental roles in the series’ recording, editing and direction.

“Bringing new life to cbuzz with our partners at Capital University is a real boon to the Columbus business community,” said Don DePerro, president and CEO of the Columbus Chamber.

“Not only does it help tell the story of Central Ohio’s continued growth, but it showcases great local talent and puts a real-world production into the hands of Capital students as well.”

The first new episode of cbuzz published today, with subsequent monthly editions featuring community and business leaders including:

     Chet Ridenour, car2go

     Dr. Frederic Bertley, COSI

     Rachel Friedman, TENFOLD

     Mark Henson, sparkspace

“Partnering with the Columbus Chamber on cbuzz enables Capital students to build their knowledge, skills and connections while producing great work for an organization that helps Columbus thrive,” said Steve Bruning, Ph.D., director of Capital’s Convergent Media Center.

“Columbus is an extension of Capital’s campus, and building partnerships that strengthen student learning and our community is part of our vision for Capital and specifically the Convergent Media Center.”

Columbus-based brand journalist Mikaela Hunt also joins the series as the podcast’s new host. Hunt’s experience as a podcaster and business owner provides the perfect lens for cbuzz programming and content.

Cbuzz originally launched in June 2015. Episodes are available on the Chamber’s website at and on iTunes and Google Play.
