Nov. 7, 2019 – Homeport’s fifth annual Voice & Vision gala event drew over 500 individuals on Oct. 24th in a special recognition of real estate development company M/I Homes and its unbroken support of Homeport.

M/I Co-Founder and CEO Irving Schottenstein was a founder of Homeport in 1987 and critical advocate in subsequent years. M/I Homes, under the leadership of Irving’s son, Robert, and other members of the M/I team, have continued to support Homeport since Irving’s passing in 2004.

The main program, preceded by musical entertainment, catered food, drinks and picture taking, was held in the Irving E. Schottenstein Theater of the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts in New Albany.

The program featured videos of individuals and families who benefited from Homeport’s affordable apartments and homes and the wraparound support services provided by or through Homeport to its residents.

Noted business, academic and political figures, including Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther, Ohio State University President Michael V. Drake and L Brands Founder Leslie H. Wexner, also participated in videos. They spoke to the need of affordable housing and community commitment of M/I Homes and its Chairman and CEO, Robert Schottenstein.

Schottenstein accepted Homeport’s Voice & Vision award on behalf of M/I Homes.

Members of the OSU Marching Band closed out the program with a medley of popular songs associated with the school and its sports program.
