Hilton’s lifestyle brand and two restaurants to open in Columbus’ Short North neighborhood

Columbus, OH – July 23, 2019 – Canopy by Hilton, Hilton’s (NYSE: HLT) lifestyle hotel brand, Indus Hotels, Schottenstein Property Group and Turner Construction Company announced today a grand opening date of July 30, 2019 for its new development, Canopy by Hilton Columbus Downtown | Short North.  Located at 77 E Nationwide Blvd – at the nexus of the Short North neighborhood and the Arena District — the 167-room hotel will also feature the Central Market House restaurant on the ground floor and The Goodale Station rooftop experience with sweeping views of downtown Columbus and the Short North.

“We are looking forward to opening the doors and introducing the Canopy by Hilton and our incredible new dining and bar options to the Short North and beyond,” said General Manager Lyle Pauls. “The pillars of the Canopy by Hilton — simply enabling, thoughtfully local, and surprisingly comfortable – were developed to ensure a positive and unique guest experience quite unlike any other.”

The Canopy by Hilton includes:

  • 167 rooms, including 4 Suites
  • Three deluxe and flexible meeting spaces offering a total of 1,850 square feet of space
  • Two dining experiences, including a one-of-kind rooftop experience with a private dining room option (up to 24 people)
  • Transfer Lounge with lockers and private showers for guests who arrive early
  • The Retreat, for guests seeking a quite space

The Central Market House restaurant is named in tribute to the thriving Central Market which served as the central economic center of Columbus from 1850 until 1966. The Central Market House will feature a flexitarian menu of local and healthy options.

A dedicated elevator will take guests to Goodale Station, which offers stunning views of Downtown Columbus, the Short North, and Goodale Park. The space is named after Dr. Lincoln Goodale, one of Columbus’ founding fathers. Goodale Station will feature a Southern-inspired menu for dinner and small plates along with craft cocktails open each day at 4pm.

The three meeting rooms include the Park Boardroom with a capacity of 10; the Haft’s Room with a capacity of 50; and the Acre Room with a capacity of 70. The Haft’s Room and the Acre Room are designed to be combined to create the Haft’s Acre Room, with a total capacity of 100, including pre-function space.

Albert C. Haft’s Acre was an outdoor arena, located at the southwest corner of Park Street and Goodale Boulevard in 1927. Boxing and wrestling were staged there until the early 1960s. Wrestlers such as Gorgeous George, Nature Boy Buddy Rogers and Wild Bull Curry all competed at the Haft events.
