Columbus Chamber announces exclusive partnership with Nationwide to offer members access to 401(k) benefits

Columbus Chamber
The Columbus Chamber provides connections, resources and solutions that help small businesses and Fortune 500 enterprises grow Central Ohio's economy.

Columbus, OH –The Columbus Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Nationwide, one of the nation’s largest providers of retirement plans1, to offer its members access to a 401(k) solution for the first time. The retirement offering will be available to members beginning today and expands the number of employee benefits offered within the Chamber’s portfolio of member programs.

Through this new relationship, Chamber members will benefit from an efficient and simplified offering which generates cost savings that are passed along to them.  Members, in partnership with a financial advisor of their choice, also receive access to a dedicated Columbus-based team to help them review, evaluate, implement and design their company’s retirement plan.

“With the tightening labor markets, it’s more important than ever for employers to offer comprehensive and high-priority benefits like retirement plans,”said Don DePerro, president and chief executive officer of the Columbus Chamber. “Nationwide is an industry leader and a best-in-class service provider that has a deep commitment to central Ohio and businesses across the country.”

A retirement plan offers businesses several advantages, from attracting and retaining top talent to offering potential tax advantages for the business owner. Nationwide’s annual business owners survey finds nearly seven in ten business owners (67 percent) agree that America’s workers are facing a retirement readiness crisis. However, only 26 percent of small businesses provide workplace retirement benefits.

“The small business members of the Chamber are pillars in our community and we’re excited to be working with the Columbus Chamber to help more local businesses offer this important benefit,” said John Carter, president of Nationwide’s retirement plan business. “For more than 40 years, Nationwide has served the retirement planning needs of America’s businesses and has helped millions of workers improve their retirement outlook.”

With Nationwide, Chamber members will receive administrative and recordkeeping services along with educational programs and tools designed to help their employees achieve their retirement goals. One of the tools Nationwide offers is the My Interactive Retirement PlannerSM, a personalized, comprehensive financial planning tool that provides a holistic view of an individual’s retirement readiness.
