Tell us about your company’s mission and values.
The Gordon Flesch Company is one of the largest independent providers of office technology solutions in the nation. Our founder, Gordon Flesch was a pioneer in bringing modern business technology to businesses in the Midwest. He revolutionized the way companies did business by helping them gain efficiencies – and become more profitable.
Today, Gordon’s sons, Bill, John and Tom, are faithful to their father’s commitment to service. Our family-owned business has transitioned from an equipment reseller to an integrated business technology solutions provider covering the Great Lakes region. And while we’ve certainly evolved to meet the changing needs of business, providing customers with exemplary technology consultation, integration and service are still at the core of everything we do. We believe it’s the reason we’re the region’s most respected resource for business technology solutions that deliver results.
Our leadership team’s boundless passion for technology, its laser focus on delivering practical solutions that precisely address customer needs, and their deep understanding of the “inner workings” of the businesses with which we partner, is something our customers experience in all our interactions, and a set of principles that are executed at every level of our organization.
In addition, Gordon Flesch understood businesses could only thrive if the communities that surround them were also thriving. That spirit of charitable giving carries on in the form of annual contributions to non-profits located in the communities where our customers live, work and play. In all, donations exceed more than $1.5 million since the foundation’s inception in 2001.
What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?
The whole team is excited to be able to network and get to know other members of the Columbus Chamber better. We look forward to collaborating and addressing the challenges facing our business community, promoting collaboration, and helping ensure Columbus remains a hotbed of innovation and growth.
How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
In addition to attending as many area technology and networking events as possible, we host several annual events like our customer appreciation event at The Memorial golf tournament. We are also able to stay plugged in to ongoing trends and upheavals in our local industry because, as a technology provider, we hear from our customers all of the latest threats and trends as they happen.
What is your company culture like?
The Gordon Flesch company is a family owned and run business, and we believe in fostering a family-like environment. GFC supports its employees, rewards hard work and gives them room to succeed. The average tenure of a GFC employee is 14 years. We have been a growing business for 62 years because GFC offers the best possible service and support for its customers and treats them with respect and courtesy.
What does it take to be a successful employee at your company?
We give our employees freedom to succeed. GFC rewards hard work, initiative, and ingenuity. GFC us not just a company to work at and get a couple years’ experience, some new skills, paychecks and then move on. It’s a place where you can build a career. All of our top earners go to a different exotic location each year and we try to offer the entire staff equal opportunities and reward all of our people as part of the GFC family.
What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?
Columbus is one of the most vibrant and fast-growing communities in America. It has a dynamic, entrepreneurial spirit, a great energy and a friendly, Midwestern spirit. I love to help others succeed and have enjoyed the same support from my fellow citizens. It’s a city that works hard but offers endless opportunity and has one of the highest qualities of life in the world. We’re a world class-city, but one that’s easy to get around and a great place to live, raise a family, and have fun. And as a sports fan, I get to enjoy world class golf, The Ohio State University, the Blue Jackets, Columbus Crew, and so much more.
