Member Spotlight by Jeff Trotier, Founder & President of TPI. Jeff loves Columbus. He wakes up every day thinking of ways to make today a better day.
Provide us with a brief summary of your business’ services.
TPI Helps companies all over North America operate more efficiently and thus more profitably. This usually involves the design and deployment of secure, reliable wireless networks or the rollout of mobile computing systems and rugged barcode scanners and printers. We serve a variety of verticals including manufacturing, warehouse and logistics, retail, and healthcare.
Tell us about your company’s mission and values.
Jeff Trotier founded TPI in 1996. Jeff was convinced that he could build a successful company by focusing on three simple objectives:
1. Hire the best people.
2. Partner with the best manufacturers and software vendors.
3. Operate by the Golden Rule and deliver the best solution possible with a level of service and support that is well beyond what is expected.
We believe we achieve the above as TPI customers stay TPI customers.
What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?
List build. Introductions, Education, support.
How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
In the world of technology, the one constant is change. In order to be the best in our field we have to continually educate ourselves on what is coming next and find ways to improve and innovate the solutions we provide to remain a valued business partner to our clients. We are currently working with the necessity of migrating users from Windows to Android OS by 2020 and helping our customers plan the process to ensure a successful transition. What may be best for one customer may not be the best for another.
What is your company culture like?
We operate as a team and every person makes a big difference to our culture and performance. Each employee understands that to be an all-star team, you each have to be a rock-star performer. The energy generated from a group of hard working happy people is amazing and extremely productive. But work is not everything; quality of life is a priority for all of us. TPI is a great place to work, but our home lives are way more important.
What does it take to be a successful employee at your company? Perform at a level better than what is expected and way above average. Respect and contribute to the team. Treat others like you would want to be treated, whether that be a co-worker, vendor, or customer.
What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?
There is a tremendous quality of life here and the Midwest work ethic of our highly educated workforce provides a great base for almost any business. On top of that, Columbus is a logistics hub 2/3 of the US population within 500 miles of us. As such, the volume of materials that flow through this area is massive, and virtually all of it has to be tracked accurately. This creates a large need for reliable WiFi systems and warehouse automation- both areas where TPI provides great value.
