Provide us with a brief summary of your business’ services.
Fast, ridiculously easy small business insurance.
SMB Insurance is an online independent insurance agency specializing in small business insurance. We’re dedicated to helping entrepreneurs protect their livelihood while providing them with a fast, ridiculously easy insurance experience.
Tell us about your company’s mission and values.
We believe that just because insurance is complex and important, it doesn’t have to be formal and unapproachable. Today’s customers want to work with insurance professionals that are personable, accessible, knowledgeable, and authentic. We listen to our clients, provide them great coverage for incredible prices, and make things easy for them.
What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?
Networking events, research services, and introductions to strategic partners we can bring a lot of value to.
How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
Not fancy, but Google Alerts and email newsletters and headline updates are really effective. We also attend trainings hosted by insurance carriers we work with, along with industry conferences.
What is your company culture like?
Imagine a traditional insurance agency you drive past in your community on your way to work or the grocery store. You know, the ones with signs outside and where you have to go meet with your agent in person? Got that vision in your head? Ok. Now completely erase that from your mind. Our company culture is like a casual tech startup where we work hard, have fun, and focus on making things as easy and simple for our customers as possible.
What does it take to be a successful employee at your company?
Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, ability to make people laugh and talk to them in a non-insurancy, regular person kind of way, and customer-focused. If you have those skills and traits, then we can teach you the insurance side of the business and how to sell and provide support like a bad ass.
Up-and-coming entrepreneurial hot bed. Though I live in Columbus, even if I didn’t, this would be the place where I’d want to headquarter our business due to the startup ecosystem, incredible pool of talent, and affordable cost of living and doing business.
