Provide us with a brief summary of your business’ services.
The Ohio Machine is a professional lacrosse team based in Columbus, Ohio. We are one of nine teams competing in Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league. The team won the franchise’s first MLL Championship in 2017 while we compete at Fortress Obetz, the nation’s first professional lacrosse specific stadium. In addition to our professional team, we also own and operate a number of grassroots lacrosse initiatives such as Central Ohio Youth Lacrosse League (COYLL). COYLL is a k-6th grade recreational league.
Tell us about your company’s mission and values.
Ohio Machine Lacrosse stands for three pillars that accurately describe our mission: playing championship level lacrosse on the field, facilitating the growth of the game of lacrosse in the state of Ohio, and providing our fan base with an experience that is second to none.
How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
Our front office is constantly looking for ways to improve and we meet constantly with other teams in our league to reiterate best practices. We stay up to date on the latest trends in social media and set ourselves apart from a customer service prospective, to provide a unique and fun experience for our fans.
What is your company culture like?
The championship-level lacrosse played on the field is reflective of a championship-level front office. With a small staff, we are very entrepreneurial in nature. We set the standard that we can create anything we want, as long as we do it to a high level. That goes from operations to sponsorships. Coming up with creative platforms for our partners to activate or ways to streamline setting the field on home game weekends. We pride ourselves on holding ourselves to a high standard both on and off the field, as we continue to grow the game of lacrosse.
US Lacrosse Magazine named Ohio the hotbed for lacrosse in 2017. Columbus is a huge part of that. We made it to our second straight championship game and was able to pull out our first League Championship while the Buckeyes made it to the national championship game. The sport is booming here. We love the growth potential and receiving corporate support throughout the year is key. Ownership loves that Columbus is the gateway to the Midwest for all of lacrosse.
