Provide us with a brief summary of your business’ services.
Back to Business I.T. is a full service solution for outsourced I.T. services. We offer solutions from reactive (on-call) services, to proactive maintenance and management of a business’s I.T. network. Most importantly, we design solutions that support the Organization’s needs so they can focus on their business and not worry about their I.T. problems.

Tell us about your company’s mission and values.
Every decision that Back to Business I.T. makes is guided by our four values. The first is Integrity.  We are firm believers that Integrity is one of the only things that can’t be taken from you; you can give it away, but it can’t be taken. The second is Client Focus.  Our I.T. services must exist to focus on the client’s business needs.  Technology for technology’s sake does favors for no one – a business can have all of the blinking lights in the world but if that tech doesn’t exist to improve the business then it’s worthless.  We put in practical solutions that make a difference.  Another value is Client Partnering.  We like to work shoulder-to-shoulder with our clients in mutually respectful partnerships.  We are not the type of firm that earns business and only gets back in touch with clients when it’s type for a price increase or renewal.  Excellent communication and our true passion for helping our clients shows in our work.  Last, but certainly not least, is Employee Welfare.  Taking care of the people that take care of the business isn’t just a smart thing to do – it’s the right thing to do.  As scary as it seems, we spend more time with our “work family” than we do with our real families, and over time the line between the two disappears.  We always do our best to take care of the great people who give our clients the service they deserve.

What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?
We really appreciate the marketing research the Chamber provides. This helps us grow strategically in specific markets. We also appreciate the connection that the Chamber provides to the Columbus business market. Being headquartered in Dayton, the Chamber provides an avenue for us to familiarize with other businesses.

How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
Staying engaged with trends is critical in our industry since technology changes so rapidly.  Our employees are all voracious learners and enjoy what they do, so everyone is always listening to tech podcasts and reading up about the newest exploits that need to be dealt with or new features that our clients could benefit from.  We source from a wide variety of different subscriptions and aggregates as well as attend as many conferences as possible!

What is your company culture like?
Our culture has been important to us since our founding in 1993.  We are committed to keeping a culture of family and fun. We reward hard working individuals and encourage success.

What does it take to be a successful employee at your company?
There are two things that make employees successful at Back to Business I.T. – Attitude and Effort.  If an employee can come in with a great attitude and give it their best day in and out, they will be very successful here.  Employees who don’t exemplify those two qualities probably won’t do well here.

What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?
The Columbus business market is progressive. It’s both exciting and challenging to partner with like-minded businesses.

What pieces of advice have you found to be the most helpful since starting your career?
Move forward firmly, with flexibility. The founder of Greentree would say this meaning, things are always changing. Create your plan, but evolve and adapt along the way.

How do you achieve a work/life balance?
A wise man once told me “you need to work to live, not live to work”, and that really has resonated with me over my career. I’m a lucky guy in that I enjoy what I do for a living, but we all get up every morning and head off to work to put food on the table for our family.  We work hard to improve our lives…and should realize that if we can’t enjoy our lives that the work isn’t worth it.  Sure, there are times that work is going to take up an inordinate amount of your life, but that shouldn’t be the normal.

Where is your favorite place to have a meeting outside the office?
My time at The Ohio State University didn’t just give me a great education, it created an insatiable hunger for Hounddog’s Pizza.  I absolutely love a nice lunch meeting with a slice or two of their killer pizza.  Can’t be beat.
