Authentic thirst quencher sponsors fashion event, fosters expression through art
Columbus, Ohio (Oct. 6, 2017) –Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) students are preparing for Fashion Week Columbus (FWC) by painting an exciting new mural in the Franklinton Arts District.
Inspired by Fashion Week Columbus platinum sponsor Sprite®, the mural – located at 435 W. Town St. next to Strongwater Columbus – was created by CCAD illustration student Thomas Tran and features the hashtag #AuthenticFWCbus to encourage people to snap photos and share on social media in anticipation of next week’s event.
“It was interesting to use a product to inspire this design and I’m really proud of the work,” Tran said. “Sprite®, as a brand, is for people who aren’t content with blending into the background and that definitely describes me as an artist.
Sprite® facilitated the mural by providing space and supplies for Tran and the CCAD students to create the art. The #AuthenticFWCBus mural offers Columbus residents and visitors a unique opportunity to express themselves by providing a colorful backdrop for photos during FWC. Activities are planned at the mural throughout the week, including a live broadcast by DJ Mr. King of Power 107.5 on Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m., and appearances by various street performers during Franklinton Friday on Friday, Oct. 13, starting at 7 p.m.
“Fashion Week Columbus is grateful to Sprite® for sponsoring our event and really elevating our attendees’ experience through the Sprite®-inspired #AuthenticFWCbus mural,” said Thomas McClure, executive director and founder of Fashion Week Columbus. “I personally love the art that Thomas created and can’t wait to snap my own photos in front of it throughout the week.”
In addition to the #AuthenticFWCbus mural, Sprite®-inspired fashion illustrations created by CCAD students will be on display during Fashion Week Columbus’ Finale Runway Show on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 8 p.m. at Brewmasters Gate, and a scholarship funded by Sprite® will be awarded to a deserving CCAD student.
