Tell us about your company’s mission and values.
To deliver the best solution and support possible for your printing requirements. If you are an OEM, VAR, systems integrator, or end user who requires modifications to the standard product, we can help.
Our values revolve around commitment to personal growth, achieving and celebrating success, accountability, and integrity.
What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?
Networking opportunities – there are so many great companies in Columbus, having the chance to meet and pick the brains of the people behind them is exciting.
How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
To stay engaged with the trends of thermal printing, I often look at the industries that thermal printing is most present in, that is, kiosks, POS/retail, admissions, and logistics. In those there are industry publications and websites that I often visit. Listening to our customers and taking note of what they are seeing as well.
What do you think differentiates you from your competitors?
Our customer support is the best, bar none. We support the customer before the purchase, during integration, and after implementation. Microcom designs, builds, and supports product all under the same roof, so the customer gets the benefit of speaking directly to the engineer that developed the printer they are using. It is what has helped build great relationships with great companies.
What is your company culture like?
Microcom is a close-knit group of people that are passionate about what they do. Personal interests are encouraged to be pursued and family is viewed as a top priority. Microcom has found the sweet spot for allowing employees flexibility and freedom while still meeting the demands of the business in an efficient manner. Laughter is often heard echoing off of our 30 foot high ceilings.
How do you achieve work/life balance?
Microcom encourages a positive work/life balance. Family is important to everyone here, and our children grow up so quickly. Employees are welcomed to attend all family get-togethers and school events. If someone needs to leave early one day, they can make it up the next day, or even over the course of the next week.
Where is your favorite place to have a meeting outside of the office?
High Banks Metro Park. It is located just around the corner from our building so it’s really convenient. We also have our company picnic there every year.
Why do you think Columbus is a great place to do business?
Columbus offers a lot of benefits for a business environment. There is plenty of quality talent already in Columbus. Columbus ranks above the national average in categories like “Cities where your paycheck go the furthest” and “Most grad-friendly markets”; so attracting talent is easier too. Columbus can be considered an epicenter. Half of the country’s population can be reached within 500 miles of Columbus; that gives businesses here a nice advantage in dealing with logistics.
