250-wHow do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
Our field is a rapidly changing, highly innovative one, and staying abreast of current trends and developments has been a key to success for us in our industry. Understanding this, we foster a culture of innovation as a key tenant of our business model. Our team is constantly improving, expanding, and honing their skillsets, regardless of their role in the company through classes, tech-related meet ups, conferences, and research.

Chepri employs a wide range of technology specialists, from web developers and designers to project managers and digital marketers (and then some). Everyone on our team has an ongoing educational requirement that fosters growth in their specialty, as well as expanding the knowledge base. We dedicate time during our weekly staff meeting to discuss current tech news. Being proactive about staying ahead of the curve in our field is central to our philosophy at Chepri.

What is your company culture like?
Our team is remarkably close, and at work discussions often extend beyond the office to evening excursions to local arcades or tech meet ups. Our company culture is extremely organic. We have a diverse cast of characters from all over the country and the world. We promote individualism, but capitalize with unity.

groupWhat does it take to be a successful employee at your company?
A passion for technology is key. Other key attributes that we look for are an inquisitive nature, a desire to learn, and being a self-motivated team player. Also, having good aim with a Nerf gun helps; we’ve been known to have occasional Nerf wars to break up the day.

What makes Columbus such a great place to do business?
We’ve got it all, in the “heart of it all,” – we really do. There’s so much that’s great about this city. We’re centrally located. We have several internationally known businesses headquartered in Columbus: some great world-class research institutions, fashion headquarters, several colleges and universities in the area, an art and music scene, and a diverse and accepting population. These facets all lend themselves in some way to the fabric that makes the Columbus area unique and vibrant. Overall, I think that Columbus has a very strong collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit that is unique and continues moving us forward and forging ahead; it’s the spirit of entrepreneurialism that makes Columbus such a great place to do business together.

What pieces of advice have you found to be the most helpful since starting your career?
Your career is a living organism; nurture it like a parent, and know when to ground yourself. Learn. Be critical of the time you’ve had, and grateful for the time you have left. Patience, persistence, and character will let you reach your destination.

How do you achieve a work/life balance?
When you love the work that you do, achieving a work/life balance seems natural. When it’s not natural, you just have to make sure you’re not working too much. Make sure you leave the office at a reasonable time each day. And know when it’s time for a vacation.  I always make sure my family comes first.

Where is your favorite place to have a meeting outside the office?
If we’re not having a meeting at our office, we like to visit our clients. This helps us have a better feeling of who they are, what their typical day is like, and how we can better represent them digitally.
