Tell us about your company’s mission and values.
Our mission is to be DIFFERENT. FUN. BETTER. We are different in that we do not outsource any of our business. Unlike many of our competitors, all of our projects are staffed by full time employees of Blue Horseshoe. That allows us to react faster to changing customer needs and our employees and shareholders are committed to making sure your needs are met the first time. We value our Shareholders, Employees, and Customers. When all three of those groups are happy, we will all be successful.
What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?
We are looking forward to the connections and events put on by the Columbus Region Logistics Council. With our organizations deep knowledge of Supply Chain Solution Engineering, we look forward to connecting with old and new acquaintances on the Council.
How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
Through our active participation in Partner Conferences, Professional Associations, and Trade Associations. You can find us attending and presenting at CSCMP, MODEX, Promat, AXUG, Microsoft Ignite, Manhattan Momentum, as well as Beer, Wine, and Spirt focused conferences. We also invite our customers, partners, and thought leaders to increase their industry knowledge at our Supply Chain Summit, which we host in Carmel, IN every September.
What do you think differentiates you from your competitors?
We do not sell the solution first, then find a team to implement. Our implementation teams are involved in the sales process and we only utilize full time employees on all of our projects. We are a top ERP provider in the Craft Beer, Beverage Distribution, and Retail solutions industry. It is likely that when you are purchasing a six pack, or making a run through the grocery store, some of the products that you buy will have come from companies that utilized Blue Horseshoe to set up their ERP or Supply Chain Solution.
What is your company culture like?
We have an amazing company culture. We believe that when our employees and shareholders are happy, that our customers will be happy as well. From a casual workplace to multiple company events at each of our offices, we foster a family friendly, fun, and inclusive workplace. We even get voted as a top workplace at our office in Indiana year after year.
During the year, we will have golf outings, family picnics, and other activities that employees can attend. With our customers, we put on a yearly summit where our customers can learn about new products and thought leadership we have developed. Because of our culture, we have very low turnover and high customer satisfaction.
What advice would you have appreciated hearing when first starting your career?
The advice we provide to our consultants is to continue their learning and expand their knowledge within the expertise they choose. Knowledge opens doors for numerous opportunities and brings additional value to the work performed.
How do you achieve work/life balance?
Our company culture helps facilitate a healthy balance between work and home. We encourage employees to make home life the priority and allow flexibility in work and office hours to take care of the necessary personal priorities.
What business leader do you admire the most and why?
Most people living in Columbus and especially Ohio State University graduates would say Les Wexner. The most impressive accomplishments from Blue Horseshoe’s perspective are his companies’ ability to recognize the importance of Supply Chain Management and helping pioneer the global fashion supply chain.
Where is your favorite place to have a meeting outside of the office?
We often decide to have “meetings” in our local Columbus restaurants around lunch time or for happy hour… it’s a great way to get a little work done and team build while getting the company to pick up the tab!
Why do you think Columbus is a great place to do business?
Compared to similar sized cities, we have a far larger pool of talent to draw from. While OSU is a major source of talent, there are a wealth of educational institutions within the region that generate skilled workers from technical to doctorial. Columbus also has a very favorable climate for doing business and works to invest in infrastructure that attracts distribution and supply chain focused businesses. When you look at Columbus compared to other similar cities, we have a huge presence in retail, medical, and supply chain management services.
