At EasyIT our mission is “To make IT easy for our clients each and every single day”. Our mission guides our actions, goals, and decisions. At the end of the day, we want our clients’ IT functions to perform seamlessly!
What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?
EasyIT has already participated in CEO Insights, building Business Connections and contributing to the blog. The two events I look forward to attending in the coming year is the Annual Chamber Clambake & Lobster Feast and the Annual Meeting.
How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
We are constantly learning through various channels. We belong to peer and business groups that share common goals and values. We read trending articles and relevant sites, and employees engage in training throughout the year to stay relevant. Additionally, our employees share insights at our weekly lunch and learn on the latest trends out there.
What do you think differentiates you from your competitors?
EasyIT is one of the largest managed service providers in the central Ohio market. We support complex environments, and we excel as a partner in helping our client manage IT.
Second, EasyIT also surpasses industry standards on customer service. We diligently seek customer feedback through surveys and personal conversations, and these metrics help us strengthen our brand. We are committed to providing remarkable service to our clients, and measuring how we can improve is critical to our success. We average a 98% on our customer satisfaction surveys, while the industry average is 80%. We attribute our success to our tenacity to live out our mission statement, “To make IT Easy for our clients each and every single day.”
Lastly, EasyIT’s culture is unique. We have a quote in our conference room that reads, “We are twice as good as we were a year ago, and only half as good as we will be a year from now.” It is our goal to constantly improve and that goal is imbedded in our culture.
What is your company culture like?
Our culture is a healthy balance between driven and relaxed. We are driven to achieve goals we’ve set for EasyIT, and we are driven by our customers’ need. People call EasyIT because of problems, and it is important that our team stay calm as we seek to solve the problem.
We are relaxed as well. Employee unhappiness is reflected in customer service and retention, and it is important at EasyIT for employees to want to come to work because they are a part of the team. Real examples of our culture include team building events, holiday gatherings, and the ability to reduce stress by playing pool or playing fetch with our office dog, Ginger.
What advice would you have appreciated hearing when first starting your career?
Professionally, I wish someone would have encouraged me to join peer groups earlier in my career. The advice you receive from caring, intelligent peers is invaluable.
Personally, I would have appreciated hearing more about stress management and work/life balance. When we first started our business, I was also starting a family. Trying to balance a new business with a new family with personal passions proved difficult. I placed personal needs on the backburner, and I have since learned to prioritize my personal time better.
How do you achieve work/life balance?
I give myself permission to purposefully set aside time to do things that I love. That may spending time with my wife, Kim, at our kids sporting events, or even going on fishing trips with buddies. Importantly I also set aside specific time for exercise. It forces you to get away from doing and thinking about work for a while. That time re-energizes you and helps you maintain perspective. If you don’t purposefully set that time aside, work tends to creep in and take over.
What business leader do you admire the most and why?
It’s not one person, but as a whole I would say the Grote family. They really embody success for me. They are a wonderful family that loves each other, laughs a lot, and knows how to have fun. They are successful with their respective businesses. They contribute to the community and deeply care about others. They’re thankful for what they have. I appreciate all of that in a person.
Where is your favorite place to have a meeting outside of the office?
That is tough. Columbus has so many great places to choose from! The Rusty Bucket, Martino’s, The Dublin Village Tavern or even my backyard patio are all fun. Last winter we had our holiday party at The Kitchen, it was fantastic.
Why do you think Columbus is a great place to do business?
Columbus is such a great city for so many things. New businesses, new products, new ideas – and not only is the community open to new business as a whole, but there are so many people willing to lend a hand. There are business groups available that get you introduced to people that have invaluable information. Whether it’s their own trials and tribulations, lessons on how to be a better manager, their networking skills, or simply their friendship – Columbus is a wealth of opportunity.
