Tell us about your company’s mission and values.
Nationwide’s mission is to protect what’s most important and build a secure financial future for U.S. consumers and businesses.
Our vision for Nationwide Employee Benefits (NEB) is to build a unique, sustainable and scalable Employee Benefits business that offers benefits solutions for small business owners through innovative models.
What are the services you use the most (or are looking forward to using) from the Columbus Chamber?
The Chamber has been our partner for more than 2.5 years. Over the years, we have worked on many marketing campaigns and events together to promote the discounted benefits program we created for Chamber members. We appreciate the Chamber staff and all of the marketing and engagement opportunities we have experienced to enhance our partnership. We have enjoyed meeting several members and thank our current Chamber customers for your business!
How do you stay engaged with trends that you see in your industry?
We keep up with trends for our business through industry publications, primary and secondary research, and we often speak with our customers to continuously enhance our products and services. We also gain insights from outside of our industry when thinking about innovation and new ideas for our business.
What do you think differentiates you from your competitors?
Our business is unique because we are a very small operation within a large corporation, so we have the resources and backings of a large company, with the ability to be nimble and operate like a small business. NEB Direct is one of the first companies in our industry to offer employee benefits products directly to employers online and over the phone without a broker. By offering our products direct to employers without broker fees, we’re able to save business owners time and money when purchasing insurance for their employees.
What is your company culture like?
At Nationwide, our associates say the difference is great because we have a culture of people who care deeply about doing what’s right. We work hard to make an impact for each other, our members and our communities. Nationwide is a mutual insurance company and we’re proud to be more than a business through our partnerships, philanthropy and workplace diversity. We’ve received many awards and recognition as a company including Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work for Award, Supplier Diversity by Women Enterprise USA and Top Companies for Diversity by Black Enterprise, Latina Style and Latino 100.
How do you achieve work/life balance?
Gallup awarded Nationwide with the Gallup Great Workplace Award for the 5th consecutive year. The award honors companies that have proven results in creating an engaged workplace by embedding engagement into their culture to drive business results. Our leadership believes work-life balance is important to people’s engagement at work and overall well-being; the company offers paid time off, flexible working hours, and time off to volunteer in the community or donate blood.
Finish this sentence: Columbus is a great place to do business because…
it’s our heritage. Nationwide started as a small business in Ohio in 1926 as The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation to provide quality auto insurance at low rates for farmers in Ohio. Today, we’re a Fortune 100 company that offers a full range of insurance and financial services across the country. Nationwide has numerous partnerships throughout the US, especially in Columbus including the Ohio State University, the Columbus Region, Mid-Ohio Foodbank, American Red Cross, United Way, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and many others throughout the Buckeye state.
Nationwide Employee Benefits has partnered with the Columbus Chamber to offer a program to save employers time and money. Nationwide’s suite of products called benefitsSM, was designed specifically to fit the needs of small businesses. With these products, Chamber members can offer employees a competitive benefits package to complement regular health insurance programs with valuable coverage such as:
- Short term disability
- Group life
- Critical illness
Chamber members receive an exclusive discount. Use reward code COLCHAMBER online, or mention your membership when you call.
