Tell us about your company’s mission and values.
CMax Advisors Mission Statement:
CMax is a unique Recruiting and HR Consulting firm. We partner with our clients to recruit great candidates, develop existing employees and retain top talent. We learn how a company’s employees support the organizational objectives, and implement innovative approaches that help our clients consistently reach their goals.

CMax Advisors is dedicated to delivering the highest quality services to our clients through our focus on integrity and building long-term relationships. We constantly strive to promote a productive and fun workplace environment and we strongly believe in supporting our community through a variety of charitable programs.
What are the services you use the most (or plan on using) from the Columbus Chamber?
As a Recruiting and HR Consulting firm, CMax Advisors relies on the strong networking connections that we have established with the support of the Chamber and through Chamber networking events. We also appreciate the opportunities within the Chamber to promote our business.
The Chamber has also provided us with local business resources that have been critical in helping us solve our unique small business issues.
How do you stay engaged with trends you see in the industry?
The most vital information that allows us to stay engaged with the industry comes from constant and consistent communication with our clients. They enable us to understand how trends are specifically impacting our clients on a local level. We also rely on local trade organizations and Central Ohio business publications to understand generalized trends and learn about how they may impact our organization and our clients.
Many businesses within the Recruiting and HR Consulting industry focus on individual placements or consulting tasks with their clients without understanding the needs of the organization as a whole. At CMax Advisors we work to establish long-term relationships with our clients so we can understand their mission and future goals. This enables us to provide highly individualized services that are geared towards our clients’ unique needs and long-term satisfaction.
What is your company culture like?
At CMax Advisors we promote a balance of productivity, fun, and community.
We set ambitious goals for our company, our employees, and our overall growth, and we provide the training and tools needed to help accomplish these goals as a team.
We organize fun non-work events throughout the year. These events are an opportunity to appreciate and motivate, and we hold these events both inside and outside the office environment.
We focus on giving back to our community through a variety of programs we undertake throughout the year, including co-hort and other education-related programs. We also hold a Community Month, and we provide paid time off for our employees to support causes that are important to them.
There are many Central Ohio organizations, including the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, that support the difficult work of local small businesses. I would have appreciated hearing about the importance of engaging with these organizations from the onset so I could have immediately taken advantage of the various small business resources that are available to Columbus and Central Ohio companies.
How do you achieve work/life balance?
I take advantage of work/life balance by maintaining flexibility in my work schedule. I frequently participate in community activities during the work day or take time during the traditional work day to attend a school event or volunteer at my child’s school. My colleagues and customers understand that I place a very high priority on being there for my family and understand when I need to schedule meetings around personal commitments.
What business leader to you admire the most and why?
Over the last year we have expanded to Dayton and have become more familiar with an organization called Aileron – a leadership institute founded by Clay Mathiel. Clay served as the CEO of the Iams Company in the ‘90’s. I admire Clay’s leadership approach and his commitment to the creation of a strong corporate culture and the investment in his employee’s development. He accomplished incredible financial results but more importantly, he cultivated an extremely talented leadership team who has taken his mentorship and accomplished future success with other organizations.
I love conducting business meetings at local coffee shops. My favorite spots include Winan’s in German Village, one of the many Cup O Joe / Staufs locations throughout Columbus, or Mission Coffee in the Short North. These locations have great coffee, friendly baristas and a welcoming environment at a convenient location.
Why do you think Columbus is a great place to do business?
I believe the people of the Central Ohio community give local businesses a unique advantage. Many people are from the area and have pride attached to it. They want to work hard for themselves, their employers, and be good community citizens. The abundance of higher education and universities in the area also provide for a skilled and educated workforce.
